Imperfect is Perfect
The Russians knew as imperfection training, some more recent coaches tried to call it “functional training”, I like imperfection training;) What the heck is imperfection training? Once proficiency in a lift was attained variables to provide new challenges to the lifts would be introduced. In some instances this would be lifting blind folded or being slightly pushed while lifting.
Why the heck would someone do such a thing? The idea was that most sporting actions are unpredictable and have forces applied the body that are not nearly as predictable as those we often encounter in the weight room. Well, the Ultimate Sandbag by itself is a great example of imperfection training, however, combine it with our Ultimate Core Strap and you have something pretty amazing. You can challenge the body from really unique positions and angles as well as help teach people movement.

Good stuff Josh! As an avid skier and biker I know it is important for one to know where their body is in space in relation to expected or unexpected external factors. In my program I use external factors to keep the client onguard and responsive due to conditioning and responding almost automatically from internal awareness of their external proprioceptors. A good book to read is “The Talent Code”. I think I could have written it, but did not – lost oportunity, Shucks! I also like to incorporate the 4 Pillars of Human Movement in my workout, i.e., Push & Pull, Up and Down, Locomotive, and Rotational (especially spiral rotational as it reflects many functional daily movements like handing off the football to tranferring the goceries. I like your new website.

Thanks Tom, yes the four pillars can be used within the framework of our program. The Ultimate Sandbags can be used to add complexity to many of these movements.
