You’re Doing It All Wrong!

A HUGE part of our L.I.F.T. program is trying to avoid redundancy. Way to many people are becoming specialist before they have a strong foundation in moving a variety of ways. However, if you want to learn how to move better, you don’t just have to move in different directions, WHAT?!

That seems completely contradictory, yet, for those that are reinforcing good movement or learning, but want to avoid boredom this is very important. We can change the placement of the weight or the position. For example, performing a power clean with the Ultimate Sandbag is very different than shouldering or performing grip cleans. Altering the position and grip can alter how a weight feels.

We can also alter slight body positioning, performing a bear hug goodmorning provides less knee bend which means the hips have to produce a greater rate of force development. Translation? You can build more power! Add bands to the zercher goodmorning and now you have even more force production going on.

Placement of load can also mean switching from a standard position in front of the body to a more lateral position. This includes our exercises such as rotational deadlifts and half moon snatches. Since sport and life is not perfect these other pulling positions offer a more athletic challenge to those lifters that have shown proficiency in the more stable and predictable lifts.

To reinforce this VERY important principle I have a video of my Top 10 Best Lower Body Pulling exercises. See these exercises and movements in action! Don’t get trapped in redundant exercises that keep you from achieving your potential!!
